Professional Learning Day for Missouri DESE

Posted on March 31, 2014

A Professional Learning Day for the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) Office of College and Career Readiness (OCCR) staff and statewide cadres of professional development (PD) experts will be on April 8, 2014.

National literacy expert Dr. Nancy Frey, who is Professor of Literacy in the Department of Educational Leadership at San Diego State University and is the recipient of the 2008 Early Career Achievement Award from the National Reading Conference, will be presenting.  She is also a teacher-leader at Health Sciences High and Middle College and a credentialed special educator, reading specialist, and administrator in California.  This session is based on the new release by Nancy Frey and Douglas Fisher entitled Rigorous Reading.

The C3 Missouri Technical Assistance Liaison supports DESE staff members' ongoing PD to build their expertise and ability to provide support and assistance to districts and schools across Missouri.  This PD will increase knowledge and skills of participants in improving the rigor in reading instruction.
