“Kansas leads the world in the success of each student,” is the vision for education set by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) in its Kansans CAN initiative. To achieve this vision, KSDE Commissioner Randy Watson called on the Central Comprehensive Center (C3) at the University of Oklahoma to help develop a strategic plan of action.

The Central and South Central Comprehensive Centers (C3/SC3) at the University of Oklahoma (OU) and the Center on Standards and Assessment Implementation (CSAI) held the Formative Assessment Bi-regional Advisory Board (FAB-RAB) Leadership Summit on March 12-13, 2018.

C3 announces its newest online resource...the Strategic Communications Knowledgebase!

C3's recent work is highlighted on Strategic Performance Management in Kansas and English Language Development in Missouri.

Two 90-minute webinars supporting state education agencies (SEAs) in the implementation of their Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) plans are scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2017, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. CT and Tuesday, December 5, 2017, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM CT.

C3 is assisting the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) in developing methods to encourage and support local districts and schools in the development of local Educator Equity Plans by creating Equity Labs.

C3 and SC3 convened an annual cross-regional advisory board meeting on Aug. 22-23, 2017, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The Central and South Central Comprehensive Centers support seven state departments of education with formative assessment resources.

C3 and SC3 are co-sponsoring the Joint Content and Regional Centers Planning Meeting (Year 5) on July 20-22, 2016, in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, area with BSCP Center and six other Content Centers.

C3/SC3 at OU sponsoring "ESSA: The Old, the New, and the Decision Points for SEAs" webinar on Monday, June 27, 2016, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. CT / 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. MT.

Read more about the timeline the ongoing support C3, SC3, and collaborators have provided to build SEA leadership capacity to support districts and schools, with the ultimate goal of closing achievement gaps among diverse student populations and improving teaching and learning for all students. 

Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), in partnership with stakeholders representing principals, district leadership, education organizations, and institutes of higher education developed a model educator evaluation system with C3's technical assistance support.

The C3/SC3 offices will be closed December 24, 2015, through January 1, 2016, for Winter Break.

As part of a broader strategic communications initiative, C3 and SC3 facilitated a convening with the collaborative members, centers, and SEAs on July 1-2, 2015, entitled, “Strategic Communication: Navigating Policy and Politics in a Competing Information Environment.”

The Central and South Central Comprehensive Centers at the University of Oklahoma have invited state education leaders within both regions to attend the APQC Education North Star Conference on September 16-17, 2015, in Houston, Texas.
